To pilot test the collection of metrics related to D&I research in regards to projects, training, and consultation.
Recognizing that what gets measured is what gets done, a subgroup led by Paul Meissner (Einstein and Montefiore) from the DI WG developed a set of metrics for D&I science, and pilot tested them in Spring and Summer 2018 across 36 CTSAs represented by the WG. The pilot test revealed that sites had difficulty differentiating between dissemination and implementation and several found that gathering metrics for D&I science was time consuming because these data are not routinely collected. Based on the pilot test results, the subgroup simplified the metrics considerably. The intention of the DI WG was to present these metrics to the CTSA Metrics Committee, but this plan is on hold due to a current moratorium on adoption of new metrics for the CTSA program. A recommendation from this subgroup is that: The CE DTF should coordinate with the Metrics Workgroup and through the Metrics process to propose inclusion of three metrics for D&I:
- Number of CTSA funded projects that advance of employ Dissemination or Implementation research
- Number of CTSA funded Dissemination or Implementation research training opportunities provided
- Number of CTSA funded Dissemination or Implementation research training consultations provided
