Clinical trials bridge the gap between research and patient care and help a medical discovery become a therapy. The clinical trial journey is long and complicated, with many steps along the way, and it can be challenging to describe this process to patients and research volunteers, or to colleagues who are unfamiliar with clinical research.

The University of Florida CTSI has created an open-access online curriculum to educate community stakeholders in the basic principles of clinical research. The curriculum covers the topics of research ethics, types of research studies, informed consent, stakeholder engagement, cultural diversity, and big data, among other topics.

Researchers supported by the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, home to Columbia University’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program hub, have developed the COVID-19 Trial Finder - a simplified method for patients, clinicians, and volunteers to search for appropriate COVID-related clinical trials in their local areas.

In the COVID-19 crisis, the Clinical and Translational Science Center in partnership with StudyPages, is contributing to keeping our participants safe. More and more teams are using the StudyPages platform to recruit and manage study participants remotely. StudyPages has a modern cloud phone (VoIP) solution for clinical research.

Twelve evidence-based profiles of roles across the translational workforce and two patients were made available through clinical and translational science (CTS) Personas, a project of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program National Center for Data to Health (CD2H).
