The Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, home to Columbia University’s CTSA Program Hub, provides resources to investigators in the areas of precision medicine and translational research through two unique resources focused on providing funding, education, research services, and mentorship programs to support advancement of projects.
The Translational Therapeutics (TRx) Accelerator leverages Columbia University’s proficiency in drug discovery and provides access to entrepreneurs and industry partners, with a goal of advancing novel therapeutics from the lab towards the path of commercialization and clinical implementation. The accelerator program collaborates closely with other Columbia programs to provide clinician-basic scientist teams with a pilot award of up to $75K, an educational boot camp led by experts in the field of drug development as well as mentorship and consultation to continue development of projects across the University.
The Precision Medicine Resource (PMR) aims to facilitate and catalyze the application of precision medicine by supporting both discovery and implementation science and utilizing interdisciplinary input from research and clinical teams across various specialties ranging from basic biomedical science to health policy. Each year, PMR funds pilot awards and fellowships, hosts a symposium and a seminar series featuring leaders in the field from across the nation, and offers specialized curriculum for workforce development. As part of research services, PMR team leads the efforts of the institutional BRIDGE Biobank and several initiatives focused on integrating genomics and electronic health records, and supports the efforts of the NIH All of US initiative through NYC Columbia/Cornell/Harlem/NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare Provider Organization (HPO) Consortium..
