Data Scientist - CREW
As part of the Clinical and Health Informatics Institute (CHI2), the Data Scientist will have the opportunity to work on a national consortium-ECHO-CREW project that aims to better understand how genetic and environmental factors interact to cause specific types of childhood asthma and to turn data into actionable information and knowledge. The data scientist will collaborate with team members to design data collection instruments, integrate and harmonize large-scale datasets. The incumbent will use biomedical informatics to develop computational methods and tools for comparative effectiveness research, data-driven patient risk stratification and clinical decision support for improving healthcare and enabling reproducible research. The data scientist will model clinical and research data problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities from data through the use of algorithmic, data mining, and visualization techniques.
Qualifications: Skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Proven knowledge of databases; programming languages like SQL, NoSQL, ETL tools, Python, R, and Unix; and High-performance and cloud computing environments.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to convey ideas effectively in speech and in writing.
-Master's degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, Informatics, related quantitative/engineering fields required OR a Bachelor's degree with at least two years' experience applying knowledge of databases; programming languages like SQL, NoSQL, ETL tools, Python, R, and Unix; and High-performance and cloud computing environments.
Qualifications: Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience with software development practices including testing, documentation and version control.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience working in an academic/scientific research environment.
-Experience with remote data collection from patients.
-Experience with EHR/clinical data.
