CTSI Chief Administrative Officer Duke Clinical & Translational Science Institute

Duke University seeks a dynamic, distinguished leader to join one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the nation as the CTSI Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Duke Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI).

The Duke CTSI is a Duke University cross-institutional infrastructure resource that facilitates and fosters successful clinical and translational research by integrating programmatic research areas and resources across campus. The CTSI is housed in the Duke School of Medicine (SOM) and has dual reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine and the Chancellor for Health Affairs. It is the institutional home for the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Duke Health is a world-class healthcare network comprised of the Duke University School of Medicine and the Duke University School of Nursing, Duke University Health System, and the Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC).

Reporting to the Director, the CAO serves as the administrative leader to the CTSI and drives overall program direction. The CAO provides programmatic, administrative, and operational leadership, coordination, and support to the communities and cores of Duke's CTSA program. The CAO oversees portfolio/project management, communication, personnel, and finances for the CTSI and works closely with the Institute Director, senior staff, and faculty to develop short and long-term strategies to grow CTSI programs to advance the Institute's vision and mission. This includes developing and implementing the strategic plan and operational execution for day-to-day activities for CTSI Programs.

Qualifications: Experience

The CTSI seeks a mature and experienced leader that can garner excitement around their focus on health and health equity and is excited to help others grow. The successful candidate will have a minimum of nine years progressively responsible experience in administrative management, including proficiency in budgeting, grants and contracts, personnel supervision, and space and facilities management. Candidates should possess expertise in leading a large staff and have exceptionally sharp analytical skills. The next CAO will need to be an exceptional communicator and relationship builder with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
