TL1 Trainees Invited to Submit Abstracts to Inaugural TL1 Symposium

Dear TL1 Directors, The Inaugural TL1 Symposium will bring together TL1 fellows from across CTSA hubs to present their research and network with other fellows and faculty. We invite you to save the date for the event, and we ask that you share with your trainees and encourage them to submit an abstract.

This inaugural event is hosted by Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM), and co-sponsored by the Center for Leading Innovation & Collaboration (CLIC) and The TL1 Visiting Scientist Working Group (The Bill Schnaper Visiting Scientist Program). A formal registration link for the Symposium will be available in the coming weeks.

Inaugural TL1 Symposium

COVID-19: Innovation and evolution of research in the pandemic

Monday, October 11, 10 am – 1 pm Central Time, on Zoom

TL1 trainees are invited to submit an abstract here by August 31

The theme for this symposium is "COVID-19: Innovation and evolution of research in the pandemic." We are seeking abstracts from TL1 trainees who either 1) developed research questions directly related to COVID-19; or 2) significantly adapted their research as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. The goal of the symposium is to highlight fellows' stories of innovation, creativity, and adaptability through the pandemic, including the development new research questions and adaptation of ongoing research.

All TL1 pre and postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to apply, regardless of their CTSA hub, training level, or research focus. Abstracts are due through this form by August 31. Presenting participants will have the opportunity to be selected for the COVID-19 Research Innovation Award, meant to recognize trainees who have best been able to adapt their research to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please contact Kelsey Bogue at kbogue@bsd.uchicago.edu with any questions.
